Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our professional Christmas light installation services
How much does Christmas light installation cost?
Most residential clients invest between $400 and $1,800 for professional holiday lighting each year. Returning customers who book early (before mid-September) receive a 15% loyalty discount. Adding decorative elements like wrapped trees typically adds $125 to $275 per tree, depending on size and coverage.
Remember, lighting is scalable - if you double the coverage area or density, the investment doubles accordingly. To keep costs manageable, many homeowners focus on the front-facing areas of their property. For tree lighting, smaller trees (under 10 feet) are always more budget-friendly than large specimens.
Do your prices change over time?
Yes, our pricing adjusts gradually to reflect changes in material costs, insurance premiums, and labor expenses. Rather than implementing sudden large increases that might surprise our valued customers, we prefer small annual adjustments that track with economic indicators. This approach helps us maintain transparent, predictable pricing year after year.
Is there a minimum project size?
Yes, we have a $225 minimum to ensure we can provide full-service support, including professional installation, maintenance visits if needed, and complete removal in January. This minimum helps us deliver the quality service our customers expect throughout the entire holiday season.
How much does roofline lighting cost?
A typical 2,000-2,500 square foot home with standard roofline coverage ranges from $450 to $550 for front-facing installation. However, roofline complexity varies significantly regardless of home size.
For example, a single-story ranch-style home has a very different roofline profile than a two-story home with multiple dormers and architectural features. Our pricing reflects the actual roofline footage and roof pitch, which is why we provide customized quotes after evaluating each property.
What does tree lighting cost?
Since lighting density directly affects pricing, it follows that a 12-foot tree would cost approximately double what a 6-foot tree costs. With this in mind, smaller trees (6-8 feet) typically look beautiful and cost less - usually $75 to $125 per tree depending on fullness and desired coverage.
Larger trees require more investment based on strand count and installation complexity. Consider that the average two-story home is about 28 feet tall - if your tree reaches the roofline, it's at least 28 feet and may require $275 to $1,500+ depending on the level of coverage you desire.
Can you light my 50-foot evergreen tree?
Absolutely! However, it's important to have realistic expectations about investment level. We occasionally receive requests like "Can you light my 50-foot blue spruce with a $200 budget?"
Trees of this magnitude require specialized equipment (commercial lift rentals run $350-$650 per day) and represent a full day of work or more. For quality coverage on a tree this size, plan for an investment starting around $1,800 for basic coverage up to $20,000+ for spectacular, dense lighting displays.
Do you offer any discounts or special pricing?
Yes! We reward customers who help us optimize our installation schedule. When you allow us to install on our preferred timeline (coordinating with other projects in your area), we're happy to pass savings along to you:
15% discount for returning customers who pre-schedule their installation and provide a 50% deposit by September 15th.
Do you install year-round or color-changing permanent lights?
Yes! We install several types of programmable RGB lighting systems. As an installation company rather than a manufacturer, we can objectively recommend the system that best suits your home's architecture and your specific needs.
RGB lighting gives you incredible versatility - Independence Day red, white and blue, Easter pastels, St. Patrick's Day green, or even purple for birthdays. The color possibilities are virtually unlimited. However, because RGB installation is more intricate and time-intensive, we schedule these projects outside our peak Christmas season (September through March).
Are permanent lights more cost-effective long-term?
This requires some honest math. Despite the "permanent" label, these systems don't actually last forever. Most LED installations need significant repairs or replacement within 5-7 years. While other companies may claim 10+ year lifespans, LED technology typically begins to fail around year 4. This means in a 200-bulb installation, you could see multiple failures by years 6-7.
The average permanent installation investment ranges from $3,200 to $9,500.
Compare this to seasonal installation: typical installation labor is around $325, plus an initial LED material investment of approximately $225. Over 7 years (the typical permanent system lifespan), seasonal installation totals around $2,500 including materials - potentially thousands less than permanent systems.
That said, we understand the appeal of year-round color options and versatility. If you're interested in permanent lighting for your property, we're happy to discuss options - just be aware that the total investment will exceed seasonal LED installation costs.
